I like them a lot too. Hm, I think I've seen a few in the zoo and then on television ofcourse. It's amazing that such fairly large animals can live on a diet of ants/termites. But then again... Whales live from plankton, so that's even more crazy with size. xD
pangolins are awesome, and these are made of pure win x3 I can sympathize with you a bit on the scales... I made a sonic styled pangolin av on Second Life, and placing all those scales was a pain >.< I can only imagine how much work this was, but you did a great job
Thank you and you're right in your assumption. The large one was the by far most difficult and time consuming plush I've ever made. He took about 4 months to make, since I attached all the scales with thread and needle and made his body on the go. Here are some pictures of his creation: [link]
With the smaller chibi versions I use glue instead, but they are still a lot of work and are covered by about 300 scales each. I still need to count the scales on the big one. %D
You're welcome. They all look very professionally made. Oh my, if the small one already has about 300 scales, then the big one must have more than 1000 of them! No wonder it took you so long to sew it.
I'm guessing anywhere between 1000-3000 scales. The worst part was actually attaching them with thread. It was very straining work (I don't want to know how many times the needle backfired into my poor fingertip instead of penetrating the material) xD for my hands and since I needed to be able to access the offside of the fabric, adding bodyparts and scales went hand in hand.
With the small ones I make the body first and add the scales last, using glue. That cuts the time with weeks. xDDD
